There are so many best practices to read about and internalize for tech writing professionals. The truth is that not every “best practice” will apply to the work you do, or the work that you plan to do, every day.
To get started, though, let’s think about some very general best practices, applicable, in our opinion, to any technical documentation.
- Think critically about your audience.
- Teach knowledge iteratively.
- Whenever possible, be short, and be concise.
- Write in an inclusive and accessible way.
- Use examples!
